European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered her first State of the Union speech this morning in the European Parliament in Brussels, in which she proclaimed Europe must lead the way from fragility to vitality after the Covid-19 crisis, and proposed a higher 2030 climate target.

Stories of solidarity under coronavirus

Coronavirus hasn’t affected everyone equally. We're sharing stories from across our European and global network of what lockdown and life under coronavirus look like around the world. Hearing from those who are among the worst affected, and how they are taking action.

Belgium (Wallonia and Brussels)

People across Europe face common problems – from inequality to discrimination, and unhealthy environments. These issues will not be solved by retreating into nationalism and division.

 

We can create more caring, democratic, equal, inclusive societies when we work together for the good of people and communities all over Europe.
