The European Happy Planet Index, launched by nef (the new economics foundation) and Friends of the Earth Europe: The index shows that Europeans can live long and be happy without the need for soaring carbon dioxide emissions. The Nordic countries demonstrate that low carbon living is compatible with high levels of well-being, but Europe is overall less efficient today at delivering well being for its carbon dioxide emissions than 40 years ago.
